The Polytechnic Institute of Leiria, through ciTechCare and CDRSP – Centre for Rapid and Sustainable Product Development, in collaboration with the University of Coimbra and the companies BHOUT, the project’s lead partner specialising in automated logistics solutions, and MOLDATA, recognised for its innovation in precision structures and machining, are developing the MAP02 – Medication Adherence Platform project.
This project is funded by the PORTUGAL 2030 programme and is currently under development. Its objective is to develop an intelligent medication dispensing system, a therapeutic adherence monitoring platform, and a corresponding data processing application.
MAP02 aims to bring industry and academia closer together by jointly developing an innovative solution that makes use of advanced sensors and technologies such as artificial intelligence and machine learning. The solution is intended to improve patients’ quality of life, promote autonomy in medication management, and reduce healthcare-related costs.
In practice, the project aims to facilitate the monitoring of patients by healthcare professionals, family members or caregivers, thereby contributing to improved therapeutic adherence, particularly among older adults and people with psychomotor needs or other conditions that make self-medication a daily challenge.
The project will run for 36 months and is scheduled for completion in April 2028.
